And many many more…

Many Songs By Other Great Singers Matt Admired Can Also Be Included In The Show

Frank Sinatra

Matt Monro was often referred to as the ‘British’ Sinatra. Matt was a massive Sinatra fan and was flattered by this comparison, although he always strived to be very much his own singer. He recorded many of Sinatra’s songs and Sinatra material can be mixed and matched into the Matt Monro Show. All the hits and more can be there: ‘New York, New York’, ‘My way’, ‘Strangers in the night’, ‘I’ve got you under my skin’ and many more.

Ian is one of the four most Sinatra singers in the country, recently appeared on a Channel 5 documentary about Mr Sinatra singing and impersonating him and provided some of the facts and material for the recent documentary – Sinatra His Way, The King of the Crooners.

Dean Martin

When it comes to the Matt Monro show the music of Dean Martin can be included. Ian can include many of his most famous songs. “That’s Amore” is always a show favourite. Dean was an underrated and multi-talented enigma and Ian is always pleased when audiences request some of his songs. Songs Ian can include in his sets are:

  • “All I do is dream of you”
  • “Everybody loves somebody sometimes”
  • “Sway”
  • “All I do is dream of you”
  • “Everybody loves somebody sometimes”
  • “Sway”
  • “Return to me”
  • “Send me the pillow that you dream on”

Sammy Davis Jnr

Sammy was the great American entertainer, he was a singer, dancer, impressionist, comedian and actor and played a number of musical instruments. Experience that smooth mellow sound as Ian sings hits like “Mr. Bojangles” and “The Candy Man”.

When Matt Monro was on ‘This is your life’, Sammy flew into London from the states especially to be there and was a guest on honour on this very memorable night in Matt’s life. Matt never forgot that one of America’s greatest entertainers was there with him on his big night.

Many of Sammy’s great hits can be included in the Matt Monro experience.

Michael Bublé

One of the modern kings of swing, his songs can be included in the show. He has in fact covered some of Matt’s songs including ‘My Kind of Girl’ and his musical catalogue can fit seamlessly in to the Matt Monro Show. Hit’s like: ‘Haven’t met you yet’, ‘Everything’, ‘Home’, ‘Feeling Good’ can be included if requested.

Pop and dance songs can be added to get your party “rocking”. Ian can glide into Motown and party songs to give your event an added lift with an “eclectic” mix of Dance material, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and modern pop music can be sung as Ian reads the crowd and will get your friends ‘dancing the night away’.

Nat King Cole

Matt’s beautiful voice was often compared to the great Nat King Cole’s. They sang in a very similar style, indeed Nat recorded some of Matt’s songs like ‘Portrait of my love’. Matt returned the compliment recording Nat’s ‘Let there be love’. Their voices were considered to be of the same style, so much so, when Nat King Cole sadly passed away, in 1965, Nat’s record company, Capital Records, offered Matt Monro £1m record deal as his replacement. Many of Nat’s great songs can be included in the Matt Monro tribute such as; ‘Unforgettable’, ‘Mona Lisa’, ‘Root 66’, ‘Stardust’ and many more.
